15 subjects in Los Andes move up the QS ranking

Five subjects are in the world's top 100 and 1 reached the top 50 in the British company's 2019 rankings.

The British company Quacquarelli Symonds’ (QS) World University Rankings by Subject revealed that the Universidad de los Andesnotably improved in its subject areas.

The QS 2019 rankings indicate that Los Andes is ranked in four of the five broad areas of knowledge that are measured.

The university appears in the rankings for social sciences, business management, arts and humanities, engineering, and technology and natural sciences.

QS constructed the ranking after having evaluated 48 different subjects in 1,222 higher-education institutions globally. It is worthwhile noting that not all institutions were measured in all 48 areas as some did not offer all subjects evaluated.

Los Andes teaches 35 of these subjects, and 28 appear on the QS world rankings.

Compared to 2018, this year the university had one subject in the QS world rankings top 50: development studies, which was ranked at number 50.

In the world top 100, the university has five other subjects.

Politics and social management, politics and international studies, modern languages, law and business, and management studies are classified in the top 100 world rankings.

Between 2018 and 2019, in total, 15 subjects in Los Andes moved up the QS world rankings and three new subjects were included.
