Migration Affairs

Students

Migration procedures could be different depending on whether your nationality is required to get the tourist visa or not:

For students whose nationality does not require a tourist visa

The migration officer at the port of entry should stamp your passport with the PID (Student Entry Permit) upon presentation of the admission letter. This is only for max 180 days. This permit is only valid for 90 days and can be renewed at Migración Colombia for additional 90 days. For stays longer than 180 days, a student visa is required.

In both cases, you will need to obtain and Foreigner ID card (Cédula de Extranjería) within 15 days of arrival in Colombia. Please remember to check the entry requirements for Colombia in advance with Migración Colombia or the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
